Doehler at BRAU Beviale 2011: Smart Category Evolution
“Smart Category Evolution” was the challenge in developing new products and product applications, which Doehler (Döhler) presented at the BRAU Beviale in Nuremberg. As a global producer, marketer and provider of technology based natural ingredients, ingredient systems and integrated solutions for the food and beverage industry, Doehler showcased around 100 new product applications. To Doehler, “Smart Category Evolution” does not just mean constantly developing its own products and technologies. In fact, this central theme describes the goal of further optimising products in cooperation with the customer, while also opening new market potential through innovation. The results of this evolution: new calorie reduction technologies, tea concepts with premium tea infusions, a new generation of malt beverages, lemonades with particularly authentic flavour profiles, innovative fermented beverages and many other products and applications destined for success.
Innovative technologies and calorie reduction systems!
Calorie reduction is a big issue in the beverage and food industry. Doehler offers a range of innovative sweetening systems in the MultiSweet Plus® product range. This also includes the natural sweetening system MultiSweet® Stevia, with its perfectly balanced sensory profile. Thanks to the “Sweetness Improving Technology” (SIT), all sweetening systems taste especially similar to sugar. In addition, “Sugar Replacement Technology” (SRT) offers new ways to reduce carbohydrates, without using sweeteners.
Naturalness and lifestyle are shaking up the beer market!
Doehler has developed product concepts that provide new impetus to the German beer mix market. At the same time, these concepts have the potential to capture foreign markets. These include lifestyle-oriented and cloudy beer mix concepts, which are in line with the trend for natural products.
Cider's wave of success spills over!
The cider concept has experienced a relaunch in recent years. At BRAU Beviale Doehler introduced cider concepts with milder taste profiles and fruity, natural flavours, which meet the taste of a wider range of customers. Thanks to modern fermentation technologies and application know-how at the Roggel and Darmstadt sites, Doehler offers its customers a comprehensive portfolio of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cider bases, in addition to innovative fruity wine bases.
Malt beverages – refreshing, sporty and healthy!
Fresh, lighter product variations have pepped up the image of malt beverages in the past few years. With a broad product portfolio of gently processed, ready filtered and concentrated malt extracts and malt compounds, Doehler makes it possible to produce malt beverages cost-efficiently. Fittingly, Doehler presented innovative product concepts, such as malt beverages that taste like beer, fruity-flavoured malt beverages, “Malta con Leche” and Kvass at BRAU Beviale.
Energy drinks – a recipe for global success
Energy drinks are among the most dynamic and successful beverages of recent years. The energy market is set to diversify even further in the coming years, with the trend shifting towards new flavours. Based on extensive experience in energy drinks and the company's broad flavour portfolio, Doehler has developed energy drink concepts geared for success, such as new taste, juicy and coffee energy drinks.
Still drinks – boundless opportunities!
Doehler presented still drinks featuring an especially fruity flavour profile and a full mouth feel, despite their reduced juice content. The latest emulsion technologies and natural fruit flavours are the key to this. White flavours and fruit pieces provide an efficient option for improving the product significantly. In addition, Doehler has developed excellent flavour and sweetening technologies that significantly reduce the sugar content in still drinks – while at the same time providing outstanding taste.
The path from iced tea to true tea indulgence
Less sweet, natural and authentic tea flavour – that is what many consumers are looking for in tea beverages. Together with Plantextrakt, Doehler is now offering a portfolio of directly-brewed “Strong Tea Infusions”. The new Doehler product concepts based on “Strong Tea Infusions” span from brewed iced teas and premium iced teas through to true teas – the purest form of tea indulgence.
Sparkling stimulation for growth in carbonated soft drinks
Premium products now make it possible to take the edge off of price pressure in the CSD market. That is why Doehler showcased orange, blood orange and grapefruit carbonates with higher fruit juice content. In addition, Doehler has optimised lemonades - for a particularly fresh-fruity taste lasting from the date of filling to the end of its shelf life. Innovative sweetening methods and flavour technologies also offer new possibilities for sensory-optimised and calorie-reduced product varieties.
A breath of fresh air for water – with two-fruits and credible functionality!
Water plus beverages such as flavoured waters and aqua plus have enjoyed success almost everywhere in the world in recent years. Doehler has developed new concepts for both product areas, providing the market with natural, fruity refreshment. The focus in flavoured water concepts is on new fruit combinations. The new Doehler aqua plus beverages are based on the recent EU health claims. Doehler provides everything for these concepts from one source: from the flavour and sweetener to the fruit juice concentrate and functional ingredients.
Along with these products and product applications, Doehler introduced a wide range of additional innovations which could be tasted at the theme islands at BRAU Beviale. In total, visitors to the Doehler stand had the opportunity to see some 100 new product applications for themselves.
