Convenience tea drinks are also referred to as ready-to-drink beverages (RTD), where emphasis is placed on the difference to loose tea which consumers first need to prepare.

RTD tea is one of the largest segments in the beverage market with a volume of 33 billion litres sold in 2010.  With a growth rate of 10.6% in 2010, it is also one of the strongest growing segments of the beverage industry besides energy drinks.

RTD tea drink consumers are especially keen on premium products containing high quality tea extracts as well as new flavour variations tailored to this target group. As a result, amongst Döhler’s product applications are high quality tea extracts derived from innovative tea varieties. This includes green and white tea from Asia, rooibos and honeybush from Africa, mate or lapacho from South America, as well as herbal and fruit teas from Europe.
