Affective sensory evaluation – the consumer judgment as benchmark
While analytical sensory evaluation only provides information about objective perceptions, affective sensory evaluation permits the gathering of data about the (subjective) view of the consumer concerning sensory acceptance or rejection of a product.
An accurate pre-recruitment of the participants based on criteria relevant to the target group is needed for a sample, which is both representative of the market and which reflects consumer behaviour in general. Incorporating the consumer at the outset (during the first steps of product and concept development) is the most important basis for future market success.
In order to consider regional taste preferences world-wide, Döhler uses this consumer testing approach in all relevant regions.
