Brewers QCheck Kit®

Detection solutions for microbreweries and homebrewers

Quality is the essential factor when it comes to beer, as the brand and the brewery’s corporate image depend on it, the reputation amongst customers fluctuates, and with it, so do sales numbers. As such, quality assurance (QS/QC) plays a key role alongside the actual brewing process. This not only concerns large-scale brewing companies, but also microbreweries or craft breweries. But what can brewers do when there is no room for a well-equipped laboratory in-house? And what if they want to gather first-hand experience in microbiological assessments?

The Brewers QCheck Kit® combines ready-to-use nutrient media from the NBB® series in single tests for microbiological testing, thereby providing all the acknowledged advantages in handling and interpretation. Beer spoiling bacteria in yeast or unfiltered beer is detected through the use of NBB®-B, hygiene monitoring via smear test with NBB®-B-Am and the corresponding smear swabs. The detection kit also comprises LMC for microbiological water analyses.

There is no longer a need for complex laboratory equipment, as all testing takes is a clean work surface and workspace (with a Bunsen burner) and a location with relatively stable, warm temperatures of up to 30°C as a substitute for an incubator. The samples are prepared directly in the tubes and bottles pre-filled with the medium. An integrated colour indicator helps interpret results as it changes colour when a result is positive.
