Determining the total bacterial count in water is one of the most important water analyses performed in the world and is described in various national and international regulations.

The nutrient agar in accordance with DEV is a ready-to-use agar medium for determining the total bacterial count and cultivating bacteria in water and food. It meets the requirements of § 64 LFGB (German Food and Feed Code), the DEV – German standard method – and DIN 38411. It is used in all food production for testing potable and rinse water, as well as for table and mineral water.
