  • regular revalidation
  • validation following maintenance or servicing on the line
  • challenge tests for checking the function of individual device components

Product description

AVM® – Aseptic Validation Medium – is the registered brand name of the Linden Grain medium in the Döhler Microsafety Design® portfolio.

This medium allows standardised detection of beverage-spoiling bacteria, yeast and mould for validating aseptic filling lines for beverages with a pH value of between 4.0 and 6.5, such as soft drinks, juices and even dairy products.

In the production of beverages with a low acid content, the filling process and the filling line itself may be a source of contamination with beverage-spoiling microorganisms. 

To allow possible weak points to be recognised, the filling process on aseptic lines needs to be examined and validated during commissioning or if major changes are made, such as in maintenance or service. In addition, annual revalidation is recommended even for unchanged filling processes in order to discover any contamination sources early on.
 

Validation should be conducted with standardised products of standardised quality to guarantee that the results are comparable and reproducible. The use of AVM® is not merely based on microbiological investigation of random samples of finished products and statistical extrapolation of the results – furthermore, it assesses the entire filling process. This allows trace and scattered infections to be detected, too.

AVM® has an ideal nutrient composition and allows the pH value to be set flexibly for certain product variations.

AVM® is available in four product varieties:

AVM® Liquid is a ready-to-use, purely vegetable-based, liquid Linden Grain medium for immediate use, and is provided in a tank train.

AVM® Concentrated Broth is a liquid, five-fold concentrated Linden Grain medium delivered in a container. The pH value of the concentrate needs to be set through dilution with water once the ready-to-use medium has been produced.

AVM® veg Powder is a Linden Grain medium in powder form for the production of a liquid medium. Using purely vegetable-based raw materials prevents animal-based ingredients from being introduced into the beverage production process. The pH value adjustment makes it possible to detect beverage-spoiling microorganisms in slightly sour beverages. It is available in 20 kg units in sealed plastic buckets.

AVM® Powder is a Linden Grain medium in powder form for the production of a liquid medium. It is available in 20 kg units in sealed plastic buckets. The pH value is also set individually by the customer.
