TransFast® Detection System
Qualitative detection of beverage-spoiling bacteria in less than 48 hours
Yeasts, in particular fermentable yeasts, moulds, lactic and acetic acid bacteria, are among the most common product-spoiling microorganisms found in the non-alcoholic beverage industry. Rapid detection results are needed to enable safe and efficient production and product approval.
The TransFast® detection system (TF in short) provides reliable and fast, qualitative detection of microbiological contamination in beverages (pH values <4.3). It consists of TF broth for liquid pre-enrichment and TF gel as the principal medium, as well as incubation tubes and an incubator. Non-filterable or microbiologically sensitive beverages with fruit juice content >10%, such as fruit splashes, are pre-enriched with TF broth (as an alternative to membrane filtration) to ensure highly reliable detection. In contrast to conventional agar media, TF gel is a transparent, pourable gel. The sample material is simply mixed with the ready-to-use medium in the transparent, sterile TF tube and incubated in the TransFast® Lightbox, an incubator with background lighting and a transparent front panel. Evaluation results are provided in mere seconds through simply illuminating the samples in the incubator. This step occurs during incubation and for a final time after 48 hours without interrupting the incubation process or moving the sample. A positive result is indicated by the formation of cloudiness.
